Will you fail a driving test for stalling?

It is not impossible to fail your driving test as a result of stalling the car, however, it is highly unlikely. Most people who do stall the vehicle will only pick up a minor fault. If it happens to you on your driving test, the most important thing is to react to the situation appropriately, quickly and safely, and focus on the rest of your driving test.
What to do if you stall your car:

  • Apply your handbrake
  • Put your car into neutral gear and restart the engine
  • Put your foot back on the clutch and put your car into the most appropriate gear
  • Make sure you make the necessary observations and pull away again when safe to do so
